    He works as a director & associate. Projects include: And Just Like That (HBO); Cecilia Gentili’s RED INK (Off-Bway; Edinburgh Fringe Festival), which was a GLAAD Honoree & featured in Vogue’s 10 standout acts; Drama Desk nominee The Jonathan Larson Project; North Shore Music Theatre; Straw Hat Revue; Music That Made Me; Computer Room Lip Sync; Farewell to the West.

    Joseph was commissioned to pen the feature film PaJaMa, for which he is also an Executive Producer. Playwright: The Eulogy Approach at Theatre Row (NY1 Pick of the Week); Jackson’s Island: Huck, Tom, Queers and Us. He won Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along Rooftop Writers Initiative, with the Jonathan Larson Grant & the Stephen Sondheim Foundation, for his song Something to Believe In. He has also written for Gay Times.

  • Dr. Joey Harrell is an educator, entrepreneur, and arts leader working to build more sustainable systems for the development of artists and new work.

    He is the co-founder of BroadwayVox Studios and Executive Director of The Wonder Collaborative, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to creating the space, resources, training, and community artists need to build meaningful and sustainable creative lives.

    Joey’s work is rooted in a fundamental belief in the importance of artists and art in society—and in the responsibility of arts organizations to create environments where artists have the time, support, and autonomy to develop their voices. His approach brings together rigorous artistic training, mentorship, community, professional development, and opportunities to create and perform, with a focus on making those resources more accessible to working artists.

    He co-founded BroadwayVox Studios with Jared Trudeau to rethink the traditional model of musical theatre education, creating an artist-centered training community serving emerging performers through established Broadway professionals. That work has expanded through The Wonder Collaborative, investing in artists across the creative process—from training and professional development to experimentation, collaboration, and the creation of new work.

    Within The Wonder Collaborative, Joey helped establish the FRAME, an interdisciplinary incubator giving artists the resources and creative space to imagine, create, and premiere new work.

    Across his work, Joey is focused on building infrastructure that treats artists as essential, invests seriously in their development, and creates a clearer path between artistic potential and the opportunity to realize it.
